Legal
Privacy Policy
This policy describes how Synapttia handles personal data when you use
the mobile app (Android and iOS, bundle ID
com.synapttia.app) and related services (API, email
processing, and audio).
1. Data we process
- Account: email, name, password (stored hashed), optional avatar, and preferences (language, summary type, notifications).
- Synapttia email: the forwarding address we assign (for example based on your username) so you can receive newsletters.
- Newsletter content: messages you forward to your Synapttia address, including subject, sender, body, and metadata needed to generate a summary and audio.
- Summaries and audio: generated text and audio files associated with each newsletter.
- Devices and push: notification token, device identifier, and minimal technical data to deliver alerts.
- Session: access and refresh tokens to keep you signed in.
- Product use: states such as read/favorite and aggregated usage metrics (for example counts), when applicable.
2. Purposes
- Create and manage your account.
- Process forwarded newsletters and generate summaries/audio.
- Display and sync your library in the app.
- Send push notifications when a summary is ready (if you enable them).
- Security, abuse prevention, and support.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
3. Legal bases and voluntariness
Processing is necessary to provide the service you request (performance of the contract/service) and, where applicable, based on your consent (for example push notifications or optional preferences). You can stop forwarding emails or delete your account using the options available in the product.
4. Processors and providers
We use cloud and infrastructure providers to operate the product, including AWS services (storage, compute, inbound email, speech synthesis, and notifications) and AI models to help generate metadata/summaries. These providers process data only to deliver the service under our contractual instructions.
5. Retention and account deletion
We keep account and newsletter data while your account is active and the data is needed for the service. You can delete your account from the Synapttia app (Profile → Delete account) or request it by email; the steps and what is erased versus what may remain are described on support — delete account. We will delete or anonymize personal data of your account. Internal copies of an already processed newsletter (without your email), associated files until a later cleanup, and limited security or legal records may remain.
6. Security
We apply reasonable controls: encrypted transmission (TLS), access control, secrets kept out of client code, and session tokens with expiry/rotation. No system is 100 % secure; please protect your password and device.
7. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may request access, correction, deletion, objection, or portability of your personal data, and withdraw optional consents. Write to privacy@synapttia.com or use the support page.
8. Children
Synapttia is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. International transfers
Our providers may process data in the United States or other regions. Where applicable, we will use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. We will publish the revision date on this page. If a change is material, we will try to notify you in the app or by email when reasonable.
